Abstract:

The purpose of this project is to conduct a sediment source analysis (SSA) for the Sonoma Creek watershed. This SSA identifies sediment sources, rates of erosion, and rates of sediment delivery to waterways. This study is part of the Sonoma Creek Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) water quality program administered by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, San Francisco Bay Region (SF RWQCB). In 1996, the SF RWQCB listed Sonoma Creek as impaired under Section 303(d) of the federal Clean Water Act (CWA).
