Abstract: 

NLCD 2001 is a Landsat-based land cover database with several independent data layers, which allow users a wide variety of potential applications. NLCD 2001 products include 21 classes of Land Cover, Percent Tree Canopy and Percent Urban Imperviousness at 30 m cell resolution.

As of 2008, products are available for the conterminous United States. Data for any part of the country can be accessed at http://www.mrlc.gov/nlcd.php< or at the USGSThe United States Geological Survey, http://www.usgs.gov/ Seamless Server site, http://seamless.usgs.gov<.
